Transfer: Carragher names EPL club whose spending will scare other teams

Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has claimed Nottingham Forest’s spending will scare other teams.

Steve Cooper has brought in players worth £147million this summer alone.

Only Chelsea (£193million) have spent more than the Premier League new boys.

Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, said: “Spending doesn’t guarantee anything and we know Forest had to make a lot of changes, whether they stayed in the Championship or came up to the Premier League.

“But I think that’s a real fear for other clubs. I go back to the other week against Everton. Forest are bringing someone off the bench who cost about £40m in Morgan Gibbs-White and he created a goal.

“What they have got right now is they have got players and a squad where, if someone gets injured or suspended, there’s not going to be too much difference to what’s on the pitch. That’s a big worry for teams who associate the promoted teams with going down.

“Other people will be looking at what’s going on here and panicking and getting very nervous.

“I think they will be scaring people who have been floating around the Premier League for two or three years.”
