NBA Eket Branch to Host Public Lecture in Honour of NBA President, Olumide Akpata as Part of Its 2022 Law Week Activities

The Eket Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) is set to host a Public Lecture on 30th June, 2022, in honour of the NBA President, Mr. Olumide Akpata, in recognition of his sterling leadership and achievements as President of the Association.

The Public Lecture with the topic “Accountable Leadership, Taking Nigeria out of Her Quagmire” is to be delivered by Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN under the chairmanship of Y.C. Maikyau, SAN.

The event is part of activities marking the flagship Branch’s 2022 Law Week, which commences on Sunday, 26th June, 2022, with a Thanksgiving Service at Qua Iboe Church, Afaha Eket.

The theme of the Law Week is “Nigerian State and the Crisis of Governance: What Hope for 2023 and Beyond.”

According to Gloria Etim, Esq, the Branch Chairman, Road Walk for lawyers is slated for Monday 27th June, while members of the Branch will be giving back to the society by visiting orphanages within the city on Tuesday 28th June, 2022.

The opening ceremony holds on Wednesday 29th June, 2022 with Joe kyari Gadzama, SAN delivering the Keynote Address.

The Law Week which promises to be enriching will parade an array of top speakers and panelists including: the former General Secretary of NBA, Jonathan Gunu Taidi, Esq; Hon. Justice Theresa Obot; Elder Nduese Essien, former Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development; Comrade Ini Ememobong, Hon. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Akwa Ibom State; Dr. Idoreyin Eyo; Dr. Amanim Akpabio; Bala Gloria, Esq and a host of others.

The Law Week will wind down on the evening of Thursday 30th June, 2022 with an exquisite Bar Dinner.

The venue for all events is Royalty Hotels, Eket, Akwa Ibom State at 10am daily.
