“Grant automatic ticket to ‘performing’ legislators” – NASS Leadership tells APC NWC

LAGOS HERALD – The leadership of the Ninth National Assembly has asked the leadership of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), to consider granting automatic tickets to lawmakers within the party’s caucus they described as performing.

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila made the case before the APC leadership at the party’s 11th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.

On his part, Lawan said “We expect our party to note that we have done so much in terms of performance and working co-operatively and assiduously with the Executive and all leaders in government from the realisation of our mandate for our manifestoes, policies and programmes of our government.

He noted that going by the harmonious working relationship between the leadership of the National Assembly and the Executive, it would not be out of place if such lawmakers were given special treatment.

According to Gbajabiamila, National Assembly members of APC deserved a special treat, adding that if someone has made the zeal, he believes it is time for another term for that person.

“I believe that it is the experience that members of the National Assembly have gathered that made them perform well. So, I like to say they deserve another term,” Gbajabiamila said.
