Akufo-Addo Appoints New Person For Trade Ministry; Removes Ken Ofori-Atta as Caretaker -See Issued Statement
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Minister for Land and Natural Resources Samuel Abu Jinapor as caretaker Minister for Trade and Industry effective January 16, 2023 when outgoing Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyeremanten would have fully handed over.
The President had earlier tasked Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as caretaker Minister of the Trade Ministry when Alan Kyeremanten tendered in his resignation last week.
In a letter dated January 13, 2023, and signed by Eugene Arhin Director of Communications at the Office of the President, Mr Abu Jinapor is to act in that position until a substantive Minister is appointed.
It is unclear why there is another change now. But the government and the President came under intense criticism for making Ken Ofori-Atta a caretaker Minister at a time he is struggling to deal with the country’s economic crisis.
